First Line Friday 56

Hey y’all!

First Line Fridays is hosted over at Hoarding Books where you give the first line of a book. Friday 56 is hosted over at Freda’s Voice where you turn to page 56 (or 56%) and choose a passage to share. The same book is used for both, with the cover and synopsis at the bottom of the page.

First Line

I suppose I could start my story here, in Hell Hall, where all my marvelous plans were born from the darkness. But I’d rather start from the beginning, or at least close enough to give you an idea of what makes me tick.

I imagined it would make him smile to see me wearing them. But when I put them on, the oddest feelings came over me. It was probably all in my mind, but they made me feel so odd, so unlike myself. And I was already feeling out of sorts, trying to get used to living in this new world without Papa. In the end I decided not to wear them.

Evil Thing by Serena Valentino

Goodreads

From her lonely childhood, to her iconic fashion choices, to that fateful car crash (you know the one), Cruella tells all in this marvelous memoir of a woman doomed. Even the cruelest villains have best friends, true loves, and daring dreams. Now it’s Cruella’s turn to share hers.

After all, nothing is as simple as black and white.

I’ve been wanting to read this series since Fairest of All released, but I just never got around to them. I found out my library had this one in and decided to give it a read. I’ve never cared anything for Cruella, but this was still an interesting tale detailing the events of Cruella’s childhood all the way to the day the puppies were dognapped. Have you read this one? How do you feel about Cruella De Vil?
