I don’t have much of an intro, as similar to April, May wasn’t a very eventful month. The couple of hours I usually have at home between work and sleep are mostly either reading or a little bit of gaming, so that’s pretty much all I’ve been up to lately.
So let’s just jump right into the books I’ve read in the last month.
The Crown’s Game by Evelyn Skye
I did enjoy this book, it was very different, and listening to it on audiobook made it quite easy to get lost in the story. I was a little worried at first due to the love triangle, but I found it didn’t make me dislike the story.
Artemis Fowl: The Lost Colony by Eoin Colfer
Not my favorite in the series, but I liked this one well enough. It set up quite a few possible plots and happenings for the future books.
Lucky Penny by Ananath Hirsh
Admittedly, there didn’t seem to be much of a plot here (and the ending was super weird), but it’s a quick, very lighthearted graphic novel that poses as a girl without the best of luck trying to navigate through life and exploring her crush on the guy she meets at the community center. The graphics are on the cutesy side too.
Artemis Fowl: The Time Paradox by Eoin Colfer
This one was interesting, I didn’t expect a time-travel plot like this, especially considering the previous book. It worked, though, for the most part, and this was really the catalyst that set up the last book. It also brought us back to the criminal mastermind Artemis (only younger) and really put into perspective how much Artemis really changed over the series.
Only a Monster by Vanessa Len
This book was great… until I found out it was the first in a trilogy. I actually rather liked the ending the way it is. I am very concerned with how those books might go and have little interest in reading them (although we know I probably will anyway). Especially considering that Aaron might not show up in the others which bothers me. But I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
The Crown’s Fate by Evelyn Skye
Overall, I enjoyed her Circle of Shadow duology better, but I loved the focus on that gray area between right and wrong throughout these books, especially when it came to Nikolai. I definitely find fault with the way the resistance was wrapped up, and I was a little distraught at the lack of magic like in the first book, but I’m also glad the author didn’t hesitate in the darker scenes throughout the story.
Artemis Fowl: The Atlantis Complex by Eoin Colfer
You know how there’s always a book in a series you just don’t like? Yeah, this was it for me. This book was extremely unnecessary to the series.

I’ve actually made a lot of progress in this one! I think I was around chapter 8 or so at the start of the month, but the last couple of weeks I’ve gotten to around chapter 60. I’m absolutely loving this one so far, it’s adorable and I love Mook. I am definitely looking forward to Mari’s story and Dante’s story as well.
I didn’t get as much read this month compared to April, but I’m pretty happy with my progress. I’ve almost met my Goodreads goal too of 60 books, so that’s exciting as it means I’m reading a whole lot more than I thought I’d be able to this year. I can’t wait to see how June goes!
How did May go for you?
